Vineyard news: Vendange is virtually all finished in the Cotes du Rhone. Chateauneuf-du-Pape farmers have concluded with their final vineyards being picked this week. And harvest has finally come to La Lionne. The team from Domaine St. Prefert was out yesterday to pick…..essentially getting finally it all done in one day. What a long weekend………….I just spent 2 1/2 days up in Chateauneuf-du-Pape participating in the annual Fete de la Veraison. This is my 6th year manning a stand and selling wine. This year, they had me in the ‘dungeon’ of the chateau…a very cool space with all the original walls and floor. And is decorated as it would have been back in the day.It was a much better environment for the wine….. cooler than being out on the street in the hot sun.
