Winter Update

Posted by on Jan 24, 2017 in News | 0 comments

The 2016 harvest went well throughout the region. lasting well into October, as the grapes needed more ‘hang time’ to reach full maturity. Looks like ti will be another good year for the Southern Rhone. I was unable to find grapes this harvest – because of the decreased yields my source was unable to part with any of his fruit……so we wait for next year.   The new 2014 wines turned out nicely, with both the 2014 Ombre du Chateau Cotes du Rhone and the 2014 Chateauneuf-du-Pape being awarded Gold Medals from...

More Wine Reviews

Posted by on Apr 6, 2016 in News | 0 comments

Just received two new reviews of our wines….looks like folks out there do seem to like us! First, from Gilbert & Gaillard, a major wine publication in France, we received a very nice score for the 2013 Chateauneuf-du-Pape – 88 points.  That’s right in line with the Parker review. And then that was followed by the 2013 Ombre du Chateau receiving a GOLD MEDAL  from the Lyon International Wine Competition. I guess we must be doing something right. And these are both available through the website. ...

We are happy to announce we received the latest Robert Parker’s WINE ADVOCATE reviews of our 2013 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (88 points) and 2013 Ombre du Chateau (87 points). Very pleased with the reviews, given the nature of the 2013 harvest. Jeb Dunnick: ‘France, Rhone: A Focus on Châteauneuf du Pape : The Difficult 2013 & 2014 Vintages October 30, 2015 Dealt difficult hands in both 2013 and 2014, the southern Rhone still managed to produce enjoyable wines I reported on the 2013s from barrel last year, and this mediocre/average...

December 2015 – The new Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Posted by on Dec 3, 2015 in News | 0 comments

The 2013 Chateauneuf-du-Papa has arrived!!   We are happy to announce that the 2013 Chateauneuf-du-Pape has arrived just in time for the holidays. It joins our other recent arrivals: the 2013 Cotes du Rhone red and the 2013 Ombre du Chateau. The 2013 Chateauneuf-du-Pape offers those deep red/black fruit flavors that are so typical of Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines.  More refined than the powerful 2012, it brings great balance and finesse, coupled with good tannic structure that will let it age. It is currently available for order…at...

August 2015

What a long weekend………….I just spent 2 1/2 days up in Chateauneuf-du-Pape participating in the annual Fete de la Veraison.  This is my 6th year manning a stand and  selling wine. This year, they had me in the ‘dungeon’ of the chateau…a very cool space with all the original walls and floor.  And is decorated as it would have been back in the day.It was a much better environment for the wine….. cooler than being out on the street in the hot sun.   But, given that it was up in the chateau, and most...

THE CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE IS HERE!!!!! Our 2012 Chateauneuf-du-Pape red wine has finally arrived in the warehouse in the U.S..  I think this is one of my best wines ever.  I am very pleased with the balance between fuit and strucuture – making it an easy wine to drink now, but one that will hold-up for a while. We only shipped one pallet (45 cases) so there is not alot to go around.  Just go to the ‘Buy our Wine’ page to place your order.

The wines are fiannly starting to make a name for themselves….at least the Ombre du Chateau is.   Gilbert & Gaillard, one of the leading wine publications in France, has selected the 2012 Ombre du Chateau for inclusion in their annual wine guide!! And now – – LE GUIDE HACHETTE DES VINS – THE most prestigeous wine guide in France – has also selected the 2012 Ombre du Chateau for its 2015 Guide!   Its nice to know that the wine press likes my wines – its a great validation of my work.  I hope those of you...
